In January of 2025, Adam Void drove the backroads from flood-ravaged Black Mountain, NC up to the frozen tundra of Lancaster, PA. There, he met with C. Fischer at the Unread HQ, a condemned rowhome with half torn out floors and peeling wallpaper. They set up an impromptu recording room and went to it. The sounds were ramshackle and nearing implosion at all times. Themes bubbled to the top: alienation, divorce, wildfires, mudslides, religion, alcoholism, freight trains, hoarding, and even the Amish. The sound is drenched in the history of Unread Records' 30+ year history of home recordings, with flavors of blues, punk, mountain music, noise, field recordings, and rock n roll. All of it filtered through a blurry lens, typical of both artists' life-work.
